Joint Input on Children’s Rights and Safety in the Digital Environment
Over 60 leading civil society organisations and experts across all continents have come together to urge the UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) to call on States to meet their obligation to protect children’s rights and safety in the digital environment.
Coordinated by 5Rights, the submission urges Governments to hold tech companies accountable for the risks their products and services pose to children by requiring them to demonstrate safety and respect for children’s rights before reaching the market. It sets out recommendations for stronger regulation, safety and privacy by design and default, and meaningful accountability across the digital environment.
