Overview
The Digital Futures for Children centre (DFC) is funded by 5Rights Foundation and hosted at the London School of Economics. The DFC support an evidence base for advocacy, facilitate multidisciplinary dialogues and amplify children’s voices.
Their principles
The Digital Futures for Children centre (DFC) advances understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by digital technologies for children’s rights and needs. The centre’s goals are framed by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child’s General comment No. 25 on children’s rights in relation to the digital environment – the authoritative statement in international law of how the UNCRC should be implemented by states worldwide in relation to all things digital.
The DFC conducts high-quality research on current and emerging areas relevant to children’s rights in the digital environment. Their research outputs contribute to a robust evidence base for advocacy on children’s rights in digital contexts, and they always ensure that children and young people have a meaningful voice in their research.
The DFC have partners around the world. They seek to capture the perspectives of diverse groups of children and young people, including those who are often marginalized or underrepresented.
