Global Online Safety Regulators Network: Regulatory Index

The Global Online Safety Regulators Network has published a ‘Regulatory Index’ that compares international approaches and perspectives to online safety regulation. This foundational document serves to facilitate collaboration by identifying areas of commonality and diversion through inter-jurisdictional comparison of online safety regulatory frameworks.

The Index includes sections on:

  • ‘Key terminology‘, identifying the necessary terms to understand the work of the regulators.
  • Jurisdictional snapshots‘, exploring each member country and their regulatory approach to online safety.
  • Regulatory analyses‘ that through multiple tables, illustrate the variety of approaches of regulators regarding the identified key themes.

5Rights, as an ‘observer’ to the Network, provided input to ensure the rights of children across the world are central to the Network’s mission to “enhance coherence and consistency between international regulators’ approaches to online safety, through the sharing of information, expertise and experience.”
