Young Scot: 'Our digital life is really just our life'

In May 2017, the 5Rights Youth Commission in Scotland launched their report ‘Our Digital Rights’.

Commissioned by the Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs, Fiona Hyslop MSP, the 5Rights Youth Commission was launched in February 2016 by Aileen Campbell MSP on behalf of the Scottish Government. In partnership with Young Scot and 5Rights, the Youth Commission was created to gather insights, ideas and recommendations from all across Scotland on ‘how Scotland can become a nation which realises the rights of children and young people in the digital world’.

The report can be read here.

The Youth Commission concluded “…our digital life is really just our life – and our digital rights are not digital at all, they are simply our existing rights as young people”.

The Youth Commission was mentioned in the Scottish Government’s Programme for Government 2017-2018 - a fantastic show of commitment to their continued support for 5Rights.
