Children’s Commissioner for England calls for change

In January 2017, the Children’s Commissioner for England launched the Growing Up Digital Taskforce Report. The Commissioner worked with young people to ensure that the report had their voices and experience at the heart of its recommendations.

The report called for three interventions from Government:

  • the creation of a digital citizenship programme, to be compulsory in every school from 4 – 14 years;
  • the introduction simplified Terms and Conditions for digital services offered to children, supporting the implementation of the intent of the General Data Protection Regulation; and
  • a new Children’s Digital Ombudsman to mediate between under 18s and social media companies.

The report can be read here.
