5Rights Foundation is looking for a dynamic, driven and highly organised individual to support the activities of our Youth Engagement Programme. This short-term contract (until June 2024) may be extended dependent on the success of the programme in meeting its objectives. ​

Role and Team​

At 5Rights Foundation, we firmly believe that young individuals possess the power to shape the future of the digital environment, ensuring it respects their rights and caters to their needs. The Youth Engagement team have the incredible opportunity to inspire and empower young voices, fostering their active participation in policy development and advocacy efforts on a global scale. 5Rights’ Youth Engagement Programme (YEP) builds on many years of consultation with and empowerment of children and young people to ensure their views and voices inform our research, underpin our policy positions, and are heard directly by decision-makers.​

The work programme of the YEP sets out a series of concrete deliverables for the first six months of 2024, which we are seeking project support to deliver upon. These include a series of online discussions between young people and the 5Rights team on topical issues (e.g. AI, the metaverse, ed-tech in schools...), and materials showcasing young people’s voices on such issues.​

Working closely with the Youth Engagement Coordinator as well as the 5Rights research, advocacy and communications teams, this position will support the fledging development of a robust YEP empowering young individuals globally to champion a safer and more inclusive digital world.​

Key Tasks​

  • Map existing relationships with young people and youth organisations; expand contact global network/relationships and promote engagement in YEP activities.​
  • Develop and manage programme of 4-6 interactive webinars, inviting and briefing young participants, capturing voices and outcomes, and sharing internally.​
  • Develop 3-4 podcasts (or videos) with young people on topical issues.​
  • Develop communications plan and materials (with 5Rights comms team) to promote YEP activities and youth voices through 5Rights comms channels. ​
  • Map opportunities for public speaking/engagement, match young people to opportunities and support young participants. ​

Person Specifications ​

We are seeking an individual who​:

  • Is passionate about creating a safer digital world for young people.​
  • Can work respectfully and effectively with a diversity of children, prioritising their safety, well-being and meaningful participation.​
  • Is highly structured, organised, proactive and outcome-oriented, delivering independently and to a high quality on objectives, while communicating and coordinating with a wider team.  ​
