Role Purpose
Public Affairs Officer role at the 5Rights Foundation will be instrumental in shaping our advocacy efforts and driving positive change in the digital landscape for children and young people. Working closely with the Head of UK Affairs, the role will contribute to the development and implementation of our strategic objectives, ensuring that our voice is heard by key stakeholders and decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse UK policy and political developments, as well as legislative and regulatory materials
- Assist in drafting briefings, position papers, consultation responses, and reports aligned with 5Rights' objectives
- Develop and maintain relationships with key partners, political stakeholders, and civil society representatives relevant to the UK team's work
- Brief political stakeholders, senior colleagues, or external partners on 5Rights positions, and lead the organisation of events for various audiences
- Monitor political, parliamentary, and media activity in this policy area, identifying engagement opportunities and recommending further action
- Oversee the organisation of the UK team, including arranging internal and external briefings, managing stakeholder lists, research depositories, and other relevant databases
- Contribute to 5Rights' UK social media and external channels with engaging content
Desirable Skills and Attributes
- A minimum of two years' experience in public affairs, UK parliament, or another political role
- Solid understanding of the UK parliamentary system and a keen interest in UK politics
- Confident and articulate communicator, both written and verbal
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Eager to develop new skills and comfortable working independently on specific projects
